The Diary of Anne Frank Follow-up Project (Due: January 7; Reading)
Goal:
·
Your task is to create a fake Instagram page for a major
character in the play.
·
The goal is to share a well-rounded
characterization that includes their interests, physical appearance,
interactions with others, what they say to others, what others say to/about
them, the legacy they left behind after death, and personal interests.
·
The obstacle to overcome is to keep
chronological and comprehensive notes throughout the play in order to span
their entrance into, duration of stay, and exit from the annex. One comment will also reflect on their
legacy—a person reflecting on their page about their life.
Role:
·
You are to choose one person whose
perspective will be revealed in your Instagram: Anne Frank, Otto Frank, Edith
Frank, Margot Frank, Hermann Van Pels (Mr. VanDaan), Auguste Van Pels (Mrs.
VanDaan), or Peter Van Pels.
·
Come up with a “username” for him/her.
Situation:
·
The context you find yourself in is that
instead of a hand-written diary like Anne had, you'll pretend that you are
hiding in the annex and updating your own Instagram page.
·
The challenge is to not give away any
information about where and how you are hiding from the Nazis. Do not endanger anyone’s lives. You may also have to do personal research to
learn more about the character.
Product:
·
You will create an Instagram page using the
provided template.
·
You need to develop images that reflect
interests, important dates, and quotes from your person and others in the
Secret Annex.
Standards
and Criteria:
·
Address some of the following “hash tags”:
o
#internalconflict
o
#genocide
o
#symbolization
o
#culture
o
#climate
o
#isolation
o
#DDay
o
#climax
o

·
A successful Instagram page will accurately
integrate history of a Holocaust victim in a modern format.
