1.   Define simile and personification.

2.   Write down three simile examples and three personification examples.  Write a sentence to describe what is being compared and why Bradbury makes these connections.

3.   Aldous Huxley once said, “Technological progress has merely provided us with more efficient means for going backward.” There may be some truth to this statement.  There may not be.

4.   Ray Bradbury is most well-known for his love of and expectation of future technology.  Both of the pieces we read provide evidence of the ways in which technology makes life both easier and harder.

·         Provide three examples from the texts that illustrate how technology helped people of the future.

·         How was humankind’s ability to make decisions for themselves eliminated by technology?




5.   Imagine that you are given the task of selling this neat house (before it destroys itself).  Using the template directly (or recreating a similar one), create a sign advertising this house. 
Include:
o   a creative hook that will draw the reader into the advertisement
o   a list of helpful features
o   a picture of one of those features
o   a technological “contact” mode
